Score: 8/10 Episode Overview: Following the events in Episode 11, where VRMMORPG players from the US received notifications to enter the Underworld as ‘beta-testers’, Gabriel has finally taken hold of Alice and is currently on his way to extract her Fluctlight into the real world. To stop Gabriel, Asuna, as well as a small group of Integrity Knights, started following him on foot. However, they were surrounded by the second batch of VRMMORPG players sent by Gabriel’s men. What seemed like a deadly moment ended momentarily as a bright light shined down… and… Voila. Shinon suddenly arrived and wiped out the entirety of the enemies. Support has finally come, and momentarily, victory seemed to be on the Integrity Knight’s side. Thoughts: Finishing the first season of Alicization – War of Underworld, I was left surprised, but at the same time, it was probably expected. I couldn’t believe that our overpowered protagonist was out for the entire season!! However, similar to the light novels, I figured it was FINE… since there are a lot more plot and events to cover. But at least give us viewers some signs that our guy will wake up and start dual-wielding through everything… Ok, maybe not literally, but that would be honestly pretty lit!! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I simply cannot bond well with Vassago. He is a simple and straightforward character. And is also an idiotic battle-loving maniac. Such characters that act on impulses and muscles, rather than brain and calculated moves such as Emperor Vector, furthermore only means bad news for Kirito and his friends. As implied from the final episode, Vassago will probably re-dive into the Underworld using his SAO/GGO/ALO account. This meant more enemies and uncertainty for Kirito and his friends. Hopefully, they can stop Emperor Vector in time before extracting Alice’s Fluctlight… Conclusion: So yes… there is so much more plot for the 2nd season of Alicization – War of Underworld to cover. I am hoping the animation will bring its light novel counterpart to life, and yes… I am having high hopes for the incoming release!!
