  • Japanese Name: アリス・ギア・アイギス
  • Released Date: January 22, 2018
  • Developer: pyramid
  • Genre: Action RPG, Gacha

Alice Gear Aegis is an interactive Action RPG game developed by Pyramid. The goal of the game is to collect your favorite Alice Gears, strengthen them, and put them onto the brutal battlefield. Ultimately, you will find yourself enjoying the gameplay experience as you embark on your quest to collect ’em waifus.

What I love most about Alice Gear Aegis is that, unlike the typical turn-based JRPG, the game is based on skill rather than character’s stats. You have full control over your character, and your job is to shoot down the enemies, dodge bullets, and much more. Despite the gameplay being very intuitive initially, there is quite a lot of micromanaging involved. As a result, you will find that Alice Gear Aegis contains quite a high skill cap as you progress the stages.

The gameplay of Konosuba Fantastic Days features an intuitive turn-based interface. Ultimately, you as the player will have complete controls over the engagement – as you can activate different skills and special attacks. Asides from progressing through the main stages, there are story-modes that allow you to learn about side characters. That is quite an addition for Konosuba fans, if I must say so myself.

3. Granblue Fantasy

  • Japanese Name: グランブルーファンタジー
  • Released Date: March 10, 2014
  • Developer: Cygames
  • Genre: Turn-based JRPG, Gacha

Granblue Fantasy is yet another turn-based RPG game in this list. Developed by Cygames, it is considered one of the most popular mobile JRPG game even to this day. Featuring hundreds of characters to choose from, the game offer great variety in its gameplay, allowing you to assemble limitless party combinations.

Initially, Granblue Fantasy seems intimidating for newer players. There always seems to be multiple events happening all at once, and admittedly, its overall UI is not the cleanest. However, throughout your gameplay experience, you will find that the Granblue Fantasy experience is literally an endless grind. There is just so much content. Be prepared to find yourself spending hours upon hours leveling those characters.

  • Japanese Name: マジカミ
  • Released Date: June 10, 2020
  • Developer: Studio MGCM
  • Genre: Turn-based JRPG, Gacha

Magicami is a turn-based JRPG game developed by Studio MGCM. According to some rumors online, the development of this game has cost a whopping 1.2 billion yen. That’s $10 million USD, so you would somewhat expected this game to be amazing. In fact, it is!

At its core, Magicami is another card collector game that allows you to summon pop-star idols into battles. However, upon playing it for the first time, I was somewhat convinced that this was a Persona 5 rip-off. Fortunately, it’s not. The animation and graphics within Magicami is of top-notch quality, making the turn-based experience much more enticing than expected. Additionally, the badass soundtrack of Magicami enhance the gameplay even more. You know the BGM is godlike when looping the loading screen music is a voluntary act.

  • Japanese Name: プリンセスコネクト!Re:Dive
  • Released Date: February 15, 2018
  • Developer: Cygames, CyberAgent
  • Genre: RPG, Gacha

Princess Connect! Re:Dive is a popular gacha game developed by Cygames. It features many characters, or princess, to choose from, and overall provides you hours upon hours of fun entertainment. One good thing about Princess Connect is how beginner friendly the game is. It is easy to obtain crystals to roll in gacha, and it’s even easier for beginners to gain a great headstart early on.

Gameplay wise, princess connect might seemed a bit mindless at first. There is a limit to how much you can control your characters in battle, as most of the preparations are done beforehand rather than during. However, as you progress through the endgame content, party building becomes vastly important. And really, there is a lot of characters you can choose from. Evidently, such variety provide Princess Connect! Re:Dive with interesting and even sometimes, challenging gameplay.
